Police said five people, including the owners of the guesthouse and a hospital where she was admitted for several days, were arrested on Sunday.
According to reports, the incident had occurred on February 3, but the accused tried to hush up the matter and admitted the injured girl in a private hospital on the guesthouse campus. The victim finally managed to reach out to some student leaders on Sunday, who took her to senior superintendent of police SS Baghel and showed him some video clippings of the incident.
The victim told the SSP that the guesthouse owner and his accomplices had kept her in the hospital and threatened her with dire consequences if she reported the incident to anyone.
The police registered a case for rape, kidnapping or abducting in order to murder, punishment for voluntarily causing hurt, assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty and other relevant sections of IPC and SC Act.
According to the victim’s complaint registered on Sunday, she worked in the guesthouse of Subhash Bharati in Jagrati Vihar, to earn her livelihood after the demise of her father. She was also pursuing law in Meerut College. However, she alleged that Subhash had sexual relations with her and forced her to be a surrogate mother. When she refused, she was beaten by him and his four accomplices.
Police said a person in the crowd made video clippings of the incident on his mobile phone, which helped in identifying the accused. The girl has been sent for medical examination and her statement would be recorded before a magistrate.
